    Clinical Chemistry/Academic Clinical Pathologist

     

    The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of Emory University School of Medicine is seeking applicants with expertise in Clinical Chemistry for a full-time academic faculty position and Core Laboratory Directorship role at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Competitive compensation will be commensurate with faculty rank and experience, according to our newly revised compensation plan. Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD, and be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC) or the American Board of Pathology (ABP). MD applicants who are not certified/eligible for these boards will be considered if they have a record of experience, accomplishments, and passion for practicing Clinical Chemistry. The Emory Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is composed of an interactive and collegial group of faculty who collectively lead one of the largest training centers for pathologists in the United States, and offer unique and exciting teaching, clinical service, and research environments. Of note, the Department is well represented in Clinical Pathology with multiple faculty members in every discipline.

     

    Emory Healthcare consists of 8 hospitals in the metro Atlanta area. We are in the process of consolidating and standardizing core laboratory activities throughout the system. The successful applicant will be appointed to direct the Core Laboratories at Emory University Hospital-Midtown/Winship at Emory Midtown Cancer Hospital, Emory Decatur Hospital, and Emory Hillandale Hospital. This role will report to the Medical Director of EHC Core Laboratory Services, who provides system-wide Core Laboratory leadership and direction.

     

    The successful candidate will participate in professional and scientific direction for the clinical chemistry section, including laboratory test stewardship, clinical consultation, compliance with CAP and CLIA regulations, the development and validation of novel tests, and quality improvement. Successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to teaching at the professional, graduate, and medical laboratory science levels.
