POSITION DETAILS
Brooklyn College invites applications for an Executive Director for Student Financial Services. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration (SVPFA), with latitude for independent judgment and decision making, the Executive Director for Student Financial Services is responsible for providing leadership over the areas that assist students in understanding the options to finance their education, including the Offices of the Bursar, Financial Aid, and Scholarships. The incumbent works closely with colleagues across the college to create synergies that streamline administrative processes, improve the student experience, and facilitate student success. The incumbent must work closely with the SVPFA, the SVPFA’s Cabinet, and leadership across the College to provide information and services to the campus community.
Responsibilities includes but is not limited to:
+ Implement and manage an integrated student financial services process and communications plan with the goal of ensuring that every student knows how to finance their education and receives the highest level of customer service.
+ Oversee the Office of the Bursar, the Office of Financial Aid, and the Office of Scholarships.
+ Design and direct a tier-based model to deliver exceptional student financial services while leveraging resources accordingly.
+ Create and manage a comprehensive student experience roadmap and communications plan for the areas within student financial services, and lead the effort to consolidate plans with all other student facing areas to reduce student run-around and dissatisfaction.
+ Develop a communications plan that utilizes technology to provide accessible information to students related to financing their education. Ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service to students and all customers, particularly the timely and professional response to all inquiries. Communicate effectively with students through the college website, social media, Chatbots, email correspondence, mail correspondence, campus-wide outreach, and the like.
+ Collaborate with the Office of Admissions and Recruitment to develop and implement a plan to advise prospective students and their families on how to finance their education.
+ Implement strategic enrollment management initiatives related to student financial services.
+ Administer College, Brooklyn College Foundation, University, State, and Federal policies regarding the collection of tuition and fees, financial aid administration, and scholarship processing.
+ Develop and implement strategies to ensure the prompt billing and timely collection of payments due the College for tuition and fees, financial aid, third party payments, tuition waivers, and miscellaneous business transactions.
+ Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls for the accounting of cash, credit card, and other payments and for the deposit of such payments. Implement strategies to monitor receivables and optimize collections. Provide regular status reports and monitor performance against University targets and other relevant benchmarks.
+ Collaborate with appropriate college offices, including but not limited to, the Offices of the Comptroller, Academic Affairs, Registrar, Enrollment Management, Academic Advisement and Student Success, Student Affairs, Information Technology, and Institutional Advancement.
+ Work with the Brooklyn College Foundation to discuss student aid needs with potential donors. Implement completion and continuation grants.
+ Monitor non-tax levy revenues to ensure they are consistent with University policy and deposited accordingly.
+ Create and monitor the Student Financial Services strategic and operational assessment plans.
+ Document all processes, policies, and procedures under Student Financial Services.
+ Attend University meetings and communicate relevant information.
+ Perform all other tasks assigned by the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
+ Experience at a director level position or higher in student financial services.
+ Experience and knowledge in bursar operations, financial aid, scholarships.
+ Demonstrated evidence of ability in the delivery of responsive customer service.
+ Experience in team building and staff development.
+ The ability to establish effective and productive working relationships with diverse campus constituents, CUNY, and other agencies.
+ Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact.
+ Proven record of working successfully with people from diverse backgrounds in a collaborative manner.
+ Experience in using a student information system.
+ Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 software.
CUNY TITLE
Assistant Administrator
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$150,000 - $162,000; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
