Duties Description Summary:A full-time grounds worker position working Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday and Monday days off, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM. During winter and summer months this position returns to Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday pass-days. Experience Cortland dives deep into the region’s offerings.Major Responsibilities:• Maintain the appearance and condition of grounds by sweeping, raking, and shoveling debris.• Plant seeds, shrubs, and trees.• Cut grass, trim shrubs, and fertilize lawns.• Remove dead trees and load trucks.• Maintain roads, parking lots, walkways, and steps.• Break up concrete and asphalt and apply patch.• Maintain athletic fields.• Assist with snow removal during winter months. Comprises 80-90% of the job and hand shoveling represents a significant portion of snow removal.

Minimum Qualifications Must have a valid drivers license at time of hire.Applicant will be required to obtain a NYS commercial pesticide technician license within twelve (12) months of appointment.SPECIAL NOTE: This position is a labor class position and as such is not subject to selection on the basis of seniority. Selection of the candidates shall be at the campus’s discretion from among those who apply.
