    Our Technical Business Development team supports the world's largest cloud customer, Amazon. Our skilled business development professionals work with smart, experienced, and innovative Amazon engineers and business leaders who are willing to tackle challenges at dizzying scales. Our team innovates working side-by-side with Amazon teams on projects such as generative AI-powered expert shopping assistant (Rufus), live streaming NFL Thursday Night Football (TNF) on Prime Video, or building cloud-based clean room solutions for Amazon Advertising. In helping Amazon innovate on AWS, our Technical Business Development professionals engage with AWS teams building services such as EC2, DynamoDB, and Bedrock, to influence service adoption and identify new business opportunities. Our team leverages their experience, expertise, and lessons learned to share insights through blog posts and present at leading industry conferences such as re:Invent, IBC, or Kubecon.

    We are looking for an experienced and motivated leader to coach, grow, and partner with technically skilled Technical Business Development leaders. You will help develop the industry's best technical business development team by enabling and coaching them on best practices, strategic opportunity identification, executive engagement, and how to drive innovation across business units of varying complexity. In collaboration with Amazon business units and AWS service teams, you will drive technology adoption, shape new and existing AWS services based on Amazon's needs, partner to co-innovate that drives external revenue growth. You will identify and champion emerging industry trends including agentic AI systems, autonomous workflows, LLM evaluation frameworks, GenAI enablement platforms, and multi-modal AI applications, guiding your team to strategically incorporate these cutting-edge innovations into customer engagement strategies and solution architectures.     In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the business development and innovation-focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technology in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new solutions. Furthermore, thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology and considering the business value and strategic impact technology creates for Amazon's business units are important aspects of the role. You will accelerate team expertise across AWS's innovation frontiers including foundation model platforms, end-to-end ML orchestration, purpose-built silicon optimization, cost-effective compute architectures, and emerging cloud-native AI capabilities that define the next generation of intelligent solutions. In addition, you will guide the team to develop lasting executive relationships, coach best practices around strategic thinking, and helping them develop strong stakeholder management skills. You will also need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other organizations within AWS such as our services teams, marketing, and professional services, as well as representing your team to executive leaders across Amazon.

    Key job responsibilities

     

    Roles and Responsibilities

     

    - As a key member of the business development and sales management teams, ensure success in building and migrating applications, software and services onto the AWS platform

     

    - Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Technical Business Developers from internal and external sources

     

    - Educate customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud

     

    - Coach Technical Business Developers in the skills needed to conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions so they can transfer skills to customers who are considering or using AWS

     

    - Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the Technical Business Developer community

     

    - Guide and motivate the development of whitepapers, data sheets, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices

     

    - Build deep relationships with decision makers within customer accounts to enable them to be “Cloud advocates”

     

    - Act as a conduit and liaison between customers, service engineering teams, and Support

     

    - Ability to travel up to 30% as needed

    Basic Qualifications

    - 10+ years of building and leading large teams and working in matrixed operating structures experience

     

    - Knowledge of distribution networks and channel P&Ls

     

    - Bachelor's degree or equivalent

     

    - Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross functional teams or equivalent

     

    - Experience in strategic thinking about business, enterprise software products, and new technology platforms and architectures or equivalent

     

    - Experience negotiating VP-level contracts with channel partners and agencies

     

    - Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, Operations, Legal, Finance, and Senior Leadership

    Preferred Qualifications

    - 5+ years of managing and developing high performance teams experience

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $174,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $288,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
