Databases and Analytics Services at AWS covers a range of data platforms including Amazon Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, as well as AWS Database Migration Service, Data Pipeline, Glue and more. As each service grows, so does adoption by customers world-wide. You will be responsible for AWS Database Migration Service product management to drive migrations to the cloud.

In this position you will deal with demanding customers and pressing deadlines – but that just keeps things interesting. You’ll have exceptional problem solving skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams. You should have proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and be excited to take on new, ambiguous projects that will be industry defining.

We are growing the organization and are looking for a senior manager to lead our product management team.

In this role you will manage a team of senior and principal product managers, and you will own product and business strategy, as well as its execution. You will hire, empower, and develop staff, and build the team’s culture. You will engage directly with customers, helping them succeed with the product and learning from their feedback. You will engage, influence, and align peers and senior leaders on product vision, product roadmap, go-to-market strategy, and investment in the service. You will work with colleagues across product management, software engineering, UX design, technical writing, solutions architecture, sales, marketing, and support to execute on product development and go-to-market initiatives.

This position requires a solid technical background, and you should be customer-focused with a passion for the cloud and information technology. Past experience in databases and analytics are a plus, but not required.

Key job responsibilities

- Defining the processes, contributing to the design, and building the content for migration tooling at AWS

- Working with customers, AWS sales, professional services, solution architects and other product teams to drive migrations

- Supporting and shepherding the entire migration life cycle from strategic planning to tactical execution

- Contributing to the vision, product strategy and road map for AWS DMS and working with key stakeholders in the company to deliver on that vision, e.g. sales, partner team, team leaders, etc.

- Identifying technical solutions to migration accelerators while ensuring appropriate resources including training and support are available as required

- Communicating relevant roadmap updates

- Establishing goals and reviewing metrics to identify opportunities and deliver success

- Research and identify new opportunities for AWS to innovate on behalf of our customers

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of people management experience

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

- Experience in people management

- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

- Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition

- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

Preferred Qualifications

- 8+ years of successful technology products work from ideation through launch experience

- Experience in successful technology product work from ideation through launch

- Experience delivering technology products or services in a high growth environment

- Experience shaping business strategy for technical products or services for large enterprises or partners

- Experience with cloud native technologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $179,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $309,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
