Summary About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at McAlester, OK. This position serves as an Explosives Operator Work Inspector, performing inspections, nondestructive testing, and witness process control functions on a variety of ammunition and ammunition components to ensure conformance. Responsibilities Inspect various types of ammunition explosives and ammunition components to determine acceptance within specifications, plans, and directives. Review technical documents to determine specifications for inspections. Verify the calibration of gages and equipment. Perform inspections of ammunition components and supply items. Identify corrective actions to improve the quality of processes and products. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Explosives Operator Work Inspector without more than normal supervision. Perform common preliminary inspections of ammunition components. I can readily recognize deteriorated, damaged, or unserviceable items. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Inspect Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) PHYSICAL EFFORT- Duties involve substantial amounts of standing and walking with a moderate amount of stooping, bending, and lifting of items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds to perform the required inspections. All lifts over 50 pounds will be assisted with a two person lift or using a mechanical handling equipment device. The two person lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts. WORKING CONDITIONS- Work is usually performed indoors, or outdoors, in covered areas which provide some protection. Work areas are usually well lighted and ventilated. Some operations cause uncomfortable steam or heat in the work area. Work areas are seldom air-conditioned. Workers are required to stand on floors made of concrete. Protective clothing and equipment will be required as mandated, depending on the operations. May be exposed to fumes from numerous agents and the possibility of flash fire. There is a chance of injury ranging from loss of life or limbs, to burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, and nausea. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Recruitment, Relocation, and Retention Incentives are not authorized. This position may require overtime work. This position may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to cover work performed on weekends, holidays and/or in other situations. This position may require you to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing. This is a Bargaining Unit position AR3135. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
