As a Structural Engineer, you will provide technical expertise in fracture analysis using NASGRO software. You must have a thorough understanding of NASA-STD-5019, the Fracture Control Requirements for Spaceflight Hardware. This role involves advising the Commercial Crew Program (CCP) on fracture control, including reviews and recommendations, and developing and vetting recommendations about variances in CCP partners’ fracture plans.
Responsibilities
+ Provide technical advice on fracture control to the Commercial Crew Program (CCP), including reviews and recommendations.
+ Develop, vet, and provide recommendations on variances in CCP partners' fracture plans.
+ Understand and provide guidance on material and Agency standards related to fracture and fracture control.
+ Critically evaluate partner data to provide technical conclusions.
+ Integrate fracture control issues with the appropriate Materials & Processes (M&P) Engineering System Manager, Fracture Control Subsystem Manager, or Core Fracture Control engineer.
+ Coordinate integration efforts, including nondestructive evaluation (NDE) and probability of detection.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in NASGRO software for fracture analysis.
+ Thorough understanding of NASA-STD-5019.
+ Experience in structural analysis, stress analysis, and fracture mechanics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with NASTRAN, FEMAP, finite element analysis, and dynamics.
+ Knowledge of spacecraft and NASA operations.
+ Experience with fracture control and fatigue analysis.
Work Environment
This role offers a hybrid work environment, predominantly remote. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including the Artemis program for the Human Lander System. All federal holidays are off with pay.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Merritt Island, Florida.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
