2026 Summer Intern, Forecast Planner
Are you a student who loves solving challenging problems by turning data into stories and learning how energy programs shape the grid and our communities? Do you enjoy collaborating with teammates, building clear visuals and summaries, and seeing your work show up in real decisions? If so, this is your internship.
Join the Energy Analytics team as a 2026 Summer Intern and help utility companies better understand their energy potential and plan for the future of their grids. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in data analysis, research, and contributing to collaborative projects that directly support energy forecasting and utility planning. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll develop practical consulting skills and contribute to polished deliverables that inform real-world decisions for both internal and client use.
This is an entry-level, 10-week, full time internship that begins in early June 2026. The work may be fully remote from any U.S. location or hybrid from an ICF office depending on individual's location. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance.
Key Responsibilities
+ **Support energy studies and regulatory work:** Contribute to research and analysis for energy efficiency, electrification, distributed energy resources, and decarbonization potential studies.
+ **Conduct market research:** Perform research on energy efficiency technologies and gather data for forecasting and program inputs.
+ **Analyze data:** Work with large datasets, perform quality checks, and create clear tables and visuals using Excel and other analytical tools.
+ **Assist with modeling and forecasting:** Compile inputs for models and summarize results under the guidance of senior team members.
+ **Prepare deliverables** : Draft slides, charts, and concise write-ups for internal reviews, reports, and presentations.
+ **Support regulatory submissions:** Format tables and figures, ensuring consistency across document versions.
+ **Maintain shared resources:** Keep files and folders organized and up to date, communicate updates, and support version control for the team.
+ **Provide flexible support:** Take on ad hoc tasks as needed to help the team achieve its goals.
Basic Qualifications
+ By start date, acceptance/ enrollment verification, or at least 9 credit hours of completed graduate-level courses preferably in energy or environmental studies, business, economics, engineering, or a related field.
+ A completed bachelor’s degree
+ Candidate must be a US citizen, reside in the U.S., be authorized to work in the U.S., and all work must be performed in the U.S. per contract requirements.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
+ Knowledge of or interest in energy efficiency technologies, demand response, distributed energy resources, and related utility programs and markets.
+ Strong quantitative and analytical skills; ability to collect, analyze, and present data using Excel, R, Python, Power BI, and similar tools.
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills for engaging with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
+ Ability to create clear, polished deliverables and maintain organized shared resources.
+ Commitment to business ethics and protection of confidential information.
+ Team player, adaptable to fast-paced environments and willing to support ad hoc tasks.

**Pay Range** - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$41,614.00 - $70,744.00
