The Hoggatt Krumwiede Lab for Applied Visualization in the School of Health Professions is seeking a Research Intern to support projects exploring virtual reality applications for adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors.
The selected Research Intern will have the opportunity to contribute to one or more ongoing research initiatives and will receive access to robust resources and training opportunities. The Hoggatt Krumwiede Lab maintains extensive virtual reality capabilities and fosters active collaborations both within and outside of MD Anderson. We are committed to supporting the professional growth and career development of our Research Interns.
*LEARNING OBJECTIVES*
• The intern will learn how to gain or advance skills in the creation of a virtual reality application. The trainee will utilize Unity software to create a proof-of-concept application.
• The intern will learn how to create and test a proof of concept virtual reality application.
• The intern will learn how to create an application for an AYA Target audience. The intern will create a proof-of-concept application for the AYA target audience.
• The intern will learn about the adolescent and young adult cancer survivor population through literature searches and discussions with clinicians working with AYA survivors.
• The intern will learn how to generate and foster collaborative relationships for research. The intern will learn how to and be encouraged to reach out to other trainees and investigators at MD Anderson and the Texas Medical Center.
• With support of faculty mentor(s), the intern will learn how to cultivate and maintain collaborative research relationships. The intern will learn how to and be encouraged to pursue research and career interests.
*ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS*
We are searching for a Research Intern with formal training in one or more of the following: biomedical communications and visualization, 3D asset and animation creation, Unity software, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro).
The ideal candidate will have strong input on the research for creating and utilizing a virtual reality application with adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors. Applicants with experience working with Unity and virtual reality are encouraged to apply.

Research Intern position studying virtual reality applications for adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors. Position includes study design, creation of virtual reality proof-of-concept project, analysis of any data, writing brief summary of project and presenting any data.
*POSITION INFORMATION*
This position (full-time or part-time) provides a stipend between $28,000 - $37,440.
Offsite work arrangements are subject to approval and may be modified or revoked at any time based on business needs, performance considerations, or regulatory requirements.
