• Lead Java Developer

    Cognizant (Richmond, VA)


    Cognizant is seeking a highly experienced **Lead Java Developer** with a strong background in designing and implementing enterprise-grade solutions using **Java 8, JEE, Spring Boot** , and **Microservices architecture** . This is an **onsite role based in Richmond, VA** , where you’ll collaborate with global teams to build cloud-native applications on **AWS** and contribute to **DevOps pipelines** that support mission-critical systems.

     

    Location Richmond, VA** – Onsite - **_Some roles may require in-person interviews at Cognizant offices or client locations, depending on project needs._

    Key Responsibilities

    + Architect and develop enterprise solutions using Java, JEE, Spring Boot, and related technologies

    + Apply design patterns to build robust, maintainable systems

    + Develop scalable web applications and RESTful APIs using Microservices

    + Implement secure, cloud-native solutions on AWS

    + Contribute to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

    + Demonstrate strong programming skills with JSON, XML, XSLT, PL/SQL, and Web Services

    + Ensure API security using OAuth and other standard protocols

    + Collaborate effectively with global teams and communicate with clients

    Required Qualifications

    + 8+ years of hands-on experience with Java 8, J2EE, and related technologies

    + Proven expertise in AWS and DevOps practices

    + Strong understanding and application of design patterns

    + Deep experience with Spring Boot, Spring Core, and Spring JPA

    + Advanced knowledge of multithreading and Microservices architecture

    + Proficiency in advanced SQL and database integrations

    + Familiarity with Git, Maven, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    + Experience working in Agile delivery environments

    + Analytical, self-motivated, and effective in global team settings

    Salary and Other Compensation:

    The annual salary for this position is between **_$97k – $140k depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate._**

     

    This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
