About the role

As a Hybrid Systems Administrator, you’ll make an impact by keeping our operations running smoothly, both on-prem and in the cloud. You’ll leverage your expertise in Azure, VMware, Hyper-V, Windows, and Linux to build secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure that supports business growth and innovation. You’ll balance hands-on technical work with infrastructure design and optimization, collaborating across teams to strengthen performance and uptime. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Engagement Delivery Lead.

In this role, you will

•Design and implement Azure infrastructure solutions to meet business needs and improve efficiency.

•Deploy, configure, and manage Hyper-V Clusters, shared storage, disk configurations, and load balancing.

•Administer and optimize VMware environments to ensure performance and scalability.

•Manage and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux systems to maintain uptime and security.

•Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate tasks and streamline operations.

•Collaborate with network teams to support Fortinet firewalls, switches, and access points.

•Monitor infrastructure performance, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.

•Maintain clear documentation for systems architecture, configurations, and procedures.

•Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions using Veeam.

•Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve complex issues quickly and effectively.

•Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance scalability, security, and reliability.

•Partner with vendors and service providers for timely delivery of services and solutions.

•Provide training and mentorship to IT staff on best practices and system management.

Work model:

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Oak Ridge, TN. What you need to have to be considered

•10+ years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering.

•Proven experience with Azure design and management.

•Deep knowledge of Hyper-V infrastructure, including clustering and load balancing.

•Strong background in VMware administration, Windows Server, Linux, and PowerShell scripting.

•Working knowledge of network engineering (cabling, switch configuration, and Fortinet).

•Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

•Strong communication and documentation abilities.

These will help you stand out

•Experience in manufacturing or industrial IT environments.

•Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage systems, Veeam Backups, SQL, Power BI, or Power Automate.

•Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.

•Degree in Information Technology or a related field
