Overview
Bet on yourself with Brightstar, a global leader in lottery innovation! We deliver entertaining and responsible experiences to players around the world. As a Software Applications Engineer, you’ll play a key role in implementing our products on a global scale.
This is a hybrid role based in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. To ensure effective collaboration and team engagement, candidates must reside within a commutable distance to the office.
Responsibilities
You’ll help transform customer expectations into real-world solutions that drive sales and improve operational efficiency. Your work will directly support the delivery of Brightstar’s innovative technologies.
+ Apply a systematic, disciplined, and measurable approach to modifying existing applications, implementing changes, generating reports, and fulfilling service requests with minimal supervision.
+ Design and develop transaction processing systems and enhancements for Brightstar’s sophisticated software architecture.
+ Participate in collaborative design discussions and demonstrate a solid understanding of transaction design principles.
+ Demonstrate foundational proficiency in software development, design, testing, maintenance, configuration management, engineering tools, and quality assurance.
+ Document processes and procedures related to the implementation and maintenance of transaction processing solutions.
+ Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders by actively listening, asking insightful questions, and understanding their requirements.
+ Collaborate across departments to analyze customer needs and develop strategies and processes that meet those needs effectively.
+ Respond promptly to service-level concerns by resolving issues directly, implementing solutions, or escalating as appropriate.
Qualifications
+ Solid experience with C/C++, Unix/Linux shell scripting, and DB2 SQL programming.
+ Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience.
+ Foundational understanding of transaction processing system design.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Skills:
+ Experience with Java, Spring Framework, JavaScript, Angular, or Node.js.

At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting salary range is _$59,795- $122,400_ . The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles may be eligible for short-term incentive or other discretionary bonuses. More senior roles maybe eligible for long-term incentive bonuses. In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance. Note: programs are subject to eligibility requirements.
