The Visual Designer creates content and assets for a variety of platforms, including websites, apps, movies, communications, and support material (which may be physically printed by users). Brainstorms creative ideas with project teams, develops visual concepts for approval, and collaborates with IT developers to successfully integrate designs into virtual projects. A strong understanding of B-to-B marketing practices, as well as B-to-C, is essential to delivering a product that is not only visually appealing, but hits the creative briefs and/or client requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
_Design_
+ Establish the look and feel for various interfaces, websites, mobile devices, apps, communications, newsletters, and support material.
+ Work within brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce a brand’s style or voice through its visual touchpoints.
+ Design user-centered interaction models, wireframes, and/or screen mockups.
+ Design logos, icons, and infographics.
+ Create and organize production assets that can be shared across multiple projects if needed.
+ Resize assets for different devices (tablet, mobile and web) while maintaining high-quality with low file sizes.
+ Work with other departments to create a seamless experience for users within the final product.
+ Source assets (photos, video footage, and even music) from approved stock vendors.
+ Work on email marketing items, presentation materials, and interactive event materials that will be used throughout multiple departments.
+ Maintain a competitive edge against competitor products and industry trends in regards to visual design.
+ Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards.
+ Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers, project leads, and/or management.
+ Collaborate with project leads, development teams, and clients to ascertain their needs and provide excellent and consistent creative design advice.
+ Provide feedback during design reviews with the development team throughout the lifespan of a project.
+ Participate in production releases of projects directly involved with to test functionality and approve final product.
_Project_
+ Follow Agile, Scrum, or current project-tracking ideology to deliver final product.
+ Work with management team and project leads to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget constraints.
+ Manage client expectation (both internally and externally) to ensure objectives are met.
+ Work independently, self-manage workload in an agile environment negotiating deadlines to meet expectations. Complete complex and non-routine assignments independently. Apply experience and knowledge of industry, company, policies, and regulations to resolve or recommend solutions. Discuss escalated issue recommendations with peers or manager. Exhibit accountability for work and behaviors.
+ Take the initiative to discuss assignments, expectations, priorities and deadlines as well as seek guidance and coaching from manager. Notify manager when workload is light and volunteer for additional work. Adjust quickly to new work structures, processes, requirements or cultures.
+ Identify efficiencies to team and manager. Document work as part of deliverables, resulting in high quality materials for internal and external usage. Draft standard operating procedures (SOP) and develop job aids.
MINIMUM** **Requirements
_Education & Certifications_
+ Bachelor’s degree in Graphic/Digital Design or related discipline.
_Experience_
+ 3 to 5 years of experience in graphic and web design, preferably in agency or corporate in-house agency setting.
_Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities_
+ Cognitive Ability including reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly, learn from experience, and appropriately apply learning to new situations.
+ Process and results oriented, motivated to keep projects moving ahead by removing obstacles and exploring alternatives.
+ Applies best practices in documenting business requirements in an iterative way, particularly using agile methodologies.
+ Ability to create clear reports and data visualizations to assist others in decision-making and problem analysis.
+ Attention to detail/accuracy; strong proofreading and quality control skills.
+ Must have a positive attitude, a drive to continually advance your understanding of the industry and business, and is highly self-motivated.
+ Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well as part of a cohesive team that includes other designers, copywriters, photographers, marketing specialists, account executives and printers.
+ Ability to build professional and trusting business relations (both internally and externally).
+ Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including XD, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
+ Ability to edit HTML and CSS.
+ Knowledge of printing and prepress procedures.
+ Ability to work efficiently and consistently on multiple projects under deadline conditions.
+ Good written and verbal communication skills.
