Position Highlights

POSITION SUMMARY: The Family Services Specialist provides support, advocacy, and resources to individuals and families in need. This role involves assessing client needs, developing service plans, and connecting patients with appropriate community resources. Provides support to patients and their families during hospitalization, helping them navigate emotional, social, and practical challenges. The specialist works collaboratively with other professionals to promote family stability, child welfare, and overall well-being.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Family Services, Human Services, Social Work, or related field.

Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association) via current card prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains status.

Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes:

Must be able to demonstrate competence in the ability to develop rapport and consult with all levels of medical and health center staff.

Must be able to demonstrate ongoing competence in maintaining strict confidentiality of highly sensitive information.

Displays competence with high level socialization skills and the ability to interact appropriately with staff and wide range of clientele under stressful conditions. Able to act as a model for stable lifestyle and personality. Must be free of psychological or substance abuse impairments that adversely affect job performance. Is willing to cooperate with formal, independent psychological evaluation if questions are raised in the above areas.

Must demonstrate competence in writing psychological reports and in utilizing other documentation systems utilized at RHSHC.

Ability to adhere to RHSHC personnel policies.
