A Brief Overview
Performs pediatric 15 lead ECGs and specialty ECG's including rhythm strips and atrial electrograms. Place Holter Monitors, Event Recorders and 24-Hr Blood Pressure Monitors. Utilizes advanced arrhythmia recognition and cardiovascular diagnostic skills while performing ECG's and scanning Holter Monitors. Interacts directly with patients, families, nurses, providers, and staff in an outpatient and inpatient acute care setting. Works closely with multiple teams within Children's Nebraska to coordinate and provide optimal patient care.
Essential Functions
Perform 15-Lead ECG’s and numerous specialty ECG’s as ordered by provider in a timely manner in inpatient and outpatient clinic settings.
+ Accurately place, process and scan Holter Monitors, Event Recorders and 24-Hr Blood Pressure Monitors.
+ Provide education to patient and family/guardian/caregivers at an understandable level and in a timely manner.
+ Coordinate with multiple teams to ensure smooth flow of testing to meet the needs of the patient/caregiver, provider, and other professionals.
+ Prioritize the order of tests based on clinic and patient needs.
+ Obtain signatures from patient/family/caregiver for Patient Financial Responsibility forms on all cardiac devices and file appropriately prior to placement/send out of device.
+ Process and analyze Holter Monitor studies within a 24 to 48-hour turnaround.
+ Monitor, prioritize and update cardiac device wait list (Holter Monitors, Event Recorders, 24-Hr BP Monitors). •Ensure timely placement/send out of devices by reviewing waitlist and determining when each device is needed through communication with care team and the patient/family/caregiver.
+ Send devices as needed utilizing UPS/USPS in a timely manner understanding high priority needs when sending.
+ Document and maintain all patient/inventory logs associated with required Cardiac Diagnostic testing to include ECG’s, Holter Monitors, Event Recorders and 24-Hr BP Monitors in a timely manner (same day). •Review preliminary results and route test results to appropriate provider/staff.
+ Flex workload to meet clinic/patient priorities.
Contact patient/families to communicate when devices will be sent out, answer questions and request return of overdue devices in a timely manner.
+ Monitor logs to ensure timely return and completion of scanning and accurate documentation.
+ Assemble Holter Monitor kits to prepare for mailing to patient or clinic site.
+ Deliver and pick up Holter Monitors to/from Children’s Nebraska mailroom daily as required.
+ Clean equipment and devices including Holter Monitors and 24-Hr BP Monitors after patient use.
+ Process outside studies for ECG’s and Holter Monitors with accurate documentation and follow-through as needed for missing information.
+ Be available to perform ECG study portion of a cardiac exercise stress test as needed
Assist in maintaining adequate levels of all testing supplies by notifying Lead Technician or Supervisor in a timely manner.
+ Contact Lead Technician or Supervisor regarding troubleshooting or needed repairs of equipment.
+ Organize and stock supplies as needed.
+ Keep ECG carts stocked and clean.
+ Delete study records that are completed and stored appropriately off of ECG carts.
+ Trains & teaches other healthcare professionals, providers, and technicians on the use of devices and equipment.
+ Travel as needed to Methodist Hospitals, outreach clinics in Omaha and within the state or region, and other newly contracted sites.

Education Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or G.E.D Required
Experience Qualifications
+ Experience working with children Preferred and
+ Minimum 1 year of experience in outpatient Cardiology/Cardiac Diagnostics setting as well as acute care Preferred and
+ Experience performing ECGs. Required and
+ Experience applying/scanning 24/48-hour Holter Monitors Required and
+ Experience working with Event Recorders Preferred
Skills and Abilities
+ Knowledge of ECG and Holter Monitor scanning required. (Medium proficiency)
+ Knowledge of systems utilized with Holter Monitors and Event Recorders required. (Medium proficiency)
+ Knowledge of basic computer skills. (Medium proficiency)
+ Knowledge of medical terminology (Medium proficiency)
+ Ability to identify and recognize arrhythmias on ECGs and Holter Monitor recordings required. (Medium proficiency)
+ Ability to work on call as needed. (Medium proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
+ Health Services\BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Required and
+ CCT - Certified Cardiographic Technician First renewal due 9-12 months after certification. Subsequent renewals every 3 years require 16 CEUs. Upon Hire Required or
+ Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) Certification. First renewal due 9-12 months after certification. Subsequent renewals every 3 years require 16 CEUs. Upon Hire Required and
+ Must pass arrhythmia recognition exam during interview process. Required and
+ ACLS Current and valid Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certification Preferred and
+ PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Preferred and
+ Completes 30 CEUs every 3 years to maintain certification. Required
