    Criminal Investigator or Investigative Auditor, Criminal Law Division, Office of the Attorney General

    Salary: $44.60 – $49.06 hourly

     

    Primary Duties: The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) is currently accepting applications for aCriminal InvestigatororInvestigative Auditorposition. The federally funded and mandated MFCU is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to protecting vulnerable individuals and safeguarding the finite resources on which they depend. This position is responsible for conducting complex criminal investigations involving Medicaid provider fraud, patient abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. Investigations often involve multi-agency coordination, detailed evidence analysis, and preparation for prosecution.

     

    Primary duties include conducting interviews, obtaining and analyzing documents and other evidence, preparing detailed investigative reports and exhibits, maintaining investigative case files, testifying in court, and interfacing with other law enforcement and government agencies. Travel throughout Idaho is required

     

    Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have above-average communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a close-knit team environment with other investigators and prosecutors; have enthusiasm for public service; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products such as Word and Excel; the ability to work independently; and manage multiple cases simultaneously.

     

    + Investigative Auditor Minimum Qualifications:

     

    Must have at least 5 years of investigative experience, preferably in law enforcement, healthcare fraud or financial crimes. Strong analytical; interviewing, and report-writing skills. Working knowledge of Medicaid regulations and healthcare billing practices.

     

    + Criminal Investigator Minimum Qualifications:

     

    Must have and maintain Idaho POST Certification of Intermediate level or higher; minimum education of a high school diploma or equivalent; at least 5 years law enforcement experience; a thorough understanding of laws, policies and rules of evidence applicable to Idaho law enforcement service.

     

    + Though not required, preference will be given to applicants who possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as health information management, accounting, healthcare administration, or criminal justice.

    + A minimum of 5 years of investigative experience, preferably in Medicaid or healthcare fraud, financial crimes or white-collar investigations.

    + Experience analyzing financial records, claims data, or medical billing.

    + Proficiency in writing affidavits, subpoenas, and investigative reports.

    + Experience testifying in court or administrative hearings.

    + Knowledge of state and federal laws related to Medicaid, healthcare fraud, and abuse.

    + Candidates with certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Professional Medical Auditors (CPMA) are highly encouraged to apply.
