We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join our team for a night shift schedule from Sunday to Thursday, 10pm to 6am. This is a contract-to-hire position based on performance. The primary responsibility is to conduct testing on raw milk tanker samples in our main laboratory using specialized lab equipment.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct Animal Drug Residue testing with Appendix N certification (provided by the State).
+ Perform Added Water/Cryo testing to obtain freezing points.
+ Execute DMC testing by obtaining samples, staining slides, and reading results under a microscope.
+ Measure the percentage of titratable acidity in milk using sodium hydroxide.
+ Assess flavor and odor by heating samples, cooling, and conducting taste/smell tests without swallowing.
+ Utilize FOSS 120 equipment to determine butterfat and total solids.
+ Perform additional testing including pH/acidity, spin testing (centrifuge), autoclaving, and monitoring silo/cooler temperatures.
+ Conduct titrations on chemicals used on plant equipment.
+ Verify paperwork, perform homogenization testing, and conduct equipment start-up testing.
+ Ensure daily scale calibrations and plating samples are accurate.
+ Enter data into QA Studio for comprehensive reporting.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in microbiology and pipetting.
+ Experience working in a laboratory environment.
+ Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food manufacturing processes.
+ Ability to follow lab GMPs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
+ Strong documentation skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related science is preferred but not required.
+ Experience in dairy or other food manufacturing is advantageous.
+ Open to candidates with pharmaceutical experience.
Work Environment
The role is based in a beverage manufacturing facility, where you will work with specialized equipment such as Charm unit/incubator, Cryoscope, Microscope, and FOSS 120. The position requires adherence to safety standards and GMPs in a fast-paced environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frederick, Maryland.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
