The Banner Payroll Department is an extremely busy office. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona and providing support to over 50,000 employees in multiple states the team consists of a group of ten remote and in office team members. This team provides payroll customer service, operations and regulatory assistance to all employees in the Banner Health enterprise.
In this **Payroll System Specialist** position you will responsible for daily tax balancing, tax deposits on all filing frequencies (daily, weekly, bi monthly, monthly, quarterly, annual), return prep, overpayment calculations, tax research, and tax account registration assistance. You must have a proficient usage of Microsoft products including Access and Outlook among the other common ones. They must be a SME in payroll taxation preferably with experience on locals not just state level.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides system support to departmental application users, troubleshoots system issues and generally ensures the assigned software is able to be used as intended. This may include tasks such as creating functional documentation, reports, training materials and provide training to staff within their area of expertise.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Maintains optimal operation of departmental application in partnership with IT or external software vendor, as appropriate. This may include implementation, testing and/or functional design. This may also include system administration tasks such as application security.
2. Provides support for application users. This would include troubleshooting for problem scenarios and escalation, as needed, to other internal or external resources to ensure successful resolution. This may also include training of application users.
3. Builds, maintains and prepares documentation and training materials. This may include participating in policy discussions regarding application usage to maintain data integrity and/or standardized processes.
4. Performs some analysis of data and may create moderately complex reports.
5. In some roles, this position may supervise staff.
6. This position generally works within guidelines and policies, but participates and provides input on policy changes within a department or similar departments across the region or company. Incumbent performs essential functions with limited supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess strong knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in related business discipline to area assigned or computer science.
A level of experience as would typically be obtained in 1 to 2 years working with systems or as a functional "super-user" of an application in a similar department environment is required.
Strong working knowledge of typical word processing, spreadsheet and/or database applications is required. Good organizational skills, as well as good oral and written communication and human relation skills are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with systems implementation and project management.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
