Purpose of the Role
The Print/Scan Production Intern is a hands-on contributor supporting daily operations within a professional print and document services environment. This role offers hands-on experience in digital print production, document management, and workflow optimization, while working alongside experienced print technicians and site leads.
Interns will gain exposure to industry-standard Xerox production systems, learn the fundamentals of high-volume digital printing and scanning, and participate in continuous improvement projects that enhance productivity, quality, and client satisfaction.
Work Location
+ Tennessee State University Campus Print Shop
Key Responsibilities
+ Assist in the daily operation of a digital print and scan production center, including document preparation, print queue management, finishing, and delivery.
+ Manage print jobs from intake to delivery, ensuring output quality, accuracy, and on-time completion.
+ Support document scanning and digitization projects, following secure handling and file-management protocols.
+ Learn to troubleshoot and escalate hardware/software issues related to print devices and job workflows.
+ Participate in process-improvement initiatives—for example, optimizing job routing, reducing waste, or improving turnaround time.
+ Collaborate with site team members and clients to understand requirements, communicate status, and ensure service excellence.
+ Support administrative tasks such as inventory tracking, job ticketing, usage reporting, and workflow documentation.
Work Environment
+ On-site, professional print shop environment.
+ Moderate physical activity, including standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Qualifications:
+ Basic knowledge of digital printing, scanning, or document services.
+ Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
+ Ability to follow structured processes and maintain confidentiality with sensitive materials.
+ Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
+ Self-motivated, curious, and willing to learn technical systems.
+ Willing to work up to 20 hours per week - flexible around school schedule
