Job Description
Summary
The Business Development Associate reports directly to the Sr. Director of Business Development and works closely with the APAC Business Development team to capture new and follow-on orders in AeroVironment's market space. In this role, one develops customer relationships and business leads.
Position Responsibilities
+ Working with customers to understand CONOPS and shape how AV's products provide solutions to customers
+ Develops business leads and establishes domestic marketing forecasts
+ Develops and executes capture plans
+ Responsible for capturing new and follow-on business
+ Supports AOP and three-year strategy planning
+ Conducts market analysis and competitive assessment and prioritizes investment decisions for review
+ Identifies key stakeholders across legislature, defense institutions, and executive branch, for engagement
+ Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors and resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
+ Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
+ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or relevant discipline is required
+ Minimum of 5 – 8 years of relevant Business Development experience
+ Prior relevant experience working with Department of Defense customers
+ Prior relevant experience working with international governments and defense organizations
+ Demonstrated business experience working with cross-functional teams
+ Occasionally may be required to travel
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
+ Familiarity with Unmanned Aircraft Systems or defense technology desired
+ Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
+ Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
+ Exhibits strong business development acumen as well as a strong understanding of acquisition and program planning processes
+ Demonstrates effective communication, negotiation, strategic planning and interpersonal skills
+ Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
+ Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
+ Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
+ Is committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the company
+ Secret security clearance preferred
Physical Demands
+ Ability to work in an office environment (Constant)
+ Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Constant)
Environmental Conditions Critical to Performance
+ Work is in an office environment, climate controlled through central air conditioning/heating.
+ May have some exposure to outside environment while traveling.
Special Requirements
+ **U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or** **_asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required._**
+ Must be able to travel within the Continental U.S. and internationally when required
The salary range for this role is:
$43 - $61
