Overview
We’re seeking an innovative and driven Data Product Lead to join our Data Partnerships Data Product team. This team owns the end-to-end strategy for the sourcing, development, and utility of third-party data. This team is responsible for managing, communicating, and applying proper governance over our foundational datasets from which SGWS builds our digital products and services. We work closely with Product, Technology, and Commercial teams to ensure our foundational data is fit for purpose, properly governed, and data quality standards are applied and understood. Your role will be to ensure that data and insights in your domain are properly understood, governed, and fit for purpose to maximize business impact for SGWS), and available for product teams to innovate and deliver new products and services to market that not only meet but exceed all stakeholder expectations.
About the Role
As a Data Product Lead at SGWS, you are the tip of the spear in your specialized domain. You will be merging skills in data lifecycle management and technical proficiency with commercial acumen to shape how we leverage our data and be a champion of data governance. You will be accountable for the utility of foundational third-party datasets from which we build our products and services. You will be responsible for setting the roadmap and execution of the full lifecycle of data sources, from evaluating the potential and use of new third party datasets, through ingestion and harmonization into SGWS systems, to ongoing operational reliability. On a day-to-day basis you will ensure the data you manage is properly governed, fit for purpose, data quality thresholds and targets are well understood and adhered to, aligned with our data initiatives and business goals, and fostering a data-driven culture. You have the ability and responsibility to guide the team to swarm around an issue, find solutions, and tell the data story.
About You
• You understand data. Maybe even passionate about data! You have experience working with and owning complex datasets, where you have collaborated with multiple stakeholder and software development team using Agile methodologies.
• You know product management. You understand product management and have experience developing product roadmaps (ideally with data products) and articulating that roadmap to many different types of stakeholders.
• You understand Data Governance. Many stakeholders will access the data you manage. You will have experience with implementing data governance frameworks and governing data inclusive of data access, data cataloguing, data modelling, metadata, data legislation and data documentation.
• You are a skilled and proactive communicator. We are a diverse organization with multiple stakeholders, and you need strong verbal and written communication to convey your data vision, roadmap, and progress. You know the right tool for the job whether it’s managing the day-to-day cadence of projects or building cross-company momentum around a data projects.
• You have ample technical and analytical skills. While you may or may not know how to code, you have the technical know-how to analyze data. You use your technical context to make better data driven decision.
Minimum Qualifications
• Demonstrate experience working in a complex data environment and with data as a product
• Have a solid understanding of data governance frameworks
• Have a solid understanding on data analysis and approaches used to make data drive decisions
• Demonstrate proficiency in various technologies to assist day-to-day tasks with a strong emphasis on JIRA knowledge preferred
• Have active experience in successfully managing and maintaining complex datasets
• Have a good understanding of agile software development methodologies like Scrum
• Demonstrate excellent product management skills
• Have effective communication and stakeholder management skills
• Have previous experience in the beverage alcohol industry is preferred but not essential
• Have previous experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar data platforms.
