Job Description
We’re looking for a hands-on, technically driven Manufacturing Process Engineer to support and improve machining-intensive operations. You’ll work directly with Production and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize equipment performance, and lead continuous improvement efforts. This role requires a strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, equipment design, and real-time problem solving in a fast-paced environment.
Daily Production Support
• Partner with Production and Maintenance to resolve equipment and process issues from start to finish
• Lead root cause analysis for downtime, out-of-tolerance parts, and fault codes
• Work with the Controls Engineer to plug into CNCs and PLCs to diagnose logic, performance, and tooling failures
• Contain and rework defective parts quickly to minimize impact
Machining & Equipment Engineering
• Design, build, and maintain machining systems, tools, and automation
• Collaborate with machine/tool vendors for new launches and upgrades
• Lead installation, debug, and optimization of plant equipment
• Provide technical oversight during vendor on-site work
Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives
• Drive cycle time, uptime, and quality improvements using Lean principles
• Identify and eliminate waste across machining and assembly processes
• Support the client’s standardized work
• Coach teams on Lean tools and structured problem-solving
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Adaptability
• Work closely with UAW operators, engineers, and leadership to align priorities
• Step outside your comfort zone to tackle unfamiliar challenges and shifting goals
• Adapt quickly to changing production needs and unexpected issues
Documentation & Project Work
• Support trials and change management for new processes
• Maintain PFMEAs, control plans, and flow diagrams
• Capture lessons learned and share best practices across teams
• Analyze bottlenecks and implement throughput improvements

Skills and Requirements
- BS, Mechanical Engineering
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, mechanical competency, and machining knowledge/hands on experience
- Experience solving engineering problems and improve processes in a manufacturing environment
o Root cause analysis, process improvement, containment, out of gauge/out of tolerance, re-working solutioning, diagnosing bad parts, fault codes, diagnosing issues with machines, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (specifically 2D) - Any AutoCAD knowledge/drafting knowledge
- Strong machining background
- Strong CNC machining or PLC programming experience
- C++ programming experience
