    Job Description

    The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.

    What You ll Do:

    + Lead a large multi-disciplinary department (Detector Technology Center [DTC]) in the development of custom UV-visible, NIR, SWIR, MWIR (3 - 5 micron), and LWIR (8-15 micron) focal plane systems for space and tactical applications.

    + Direct activity through a team of leaders

    + Staff and set up new programs, studies, and pursuits

    + Manage execution of active programs including engagement with their program managers.

    + Manage budgets for staff, facilities and equipment

    + Coordinate new business support of company business units including classified areas.

    + Oversee production, test and metrology facilities, equipment and processes used to execute programs

    + Continually develop Center leaders and Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTL) for programs

    + Review all proposal products including technical architectures and cost estimates as executable offerings.

    + Technical and execution lead for detector related LCM process reviews

    + Own company relationship with strategic detector subcontractors, including their executive level and technical leadership

    + Serve as functional manager for detector engineering staff including hiring, staffing, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, promotions, employee recognition, and related people management and advocacy.

    + Represent the DTC within larger Payload Engineering department charter.

    + Act as chief engineer and first responder to technology needs across company. Drive progress of detector technology roadmap across programs, internal and customer research and development, and overhead initiatives.

    + Manage and document the technical focal plane subsystem engineering know-how and capability that represents continuing business discriminators.

    + Maintain personal involvement in new business and program execution such as generating or independently reviewing proposal products, setting up programs, chairing failure boards, or backfilling absent leaders.

    + Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

    + Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

    + Perform other duties as necessary.

    **On-Site Work Environment** : This position requires regular in-person engagement by working **on-site five days** each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

    Working Conditions:

    + Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

    **Short-Term Incentive:** Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    + BS/BA in related field plus 12 or more years related experience.

    + Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

    + A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.

    + Experience in detector systems engineering, device design, detector test, focal plane hardware design and microelectronic packaging, or focal plane system test.

    + Advanced knowledge of visible, NIR, SWIR, MWIR, and LWIR detector characterization, design, and system level integration.

    + Advanced knowledge of imaging detector technologies including hybrid CMOS arrays.

    + Experience formally managing people

    + Experience managing large projects to cost, schedule and technical requirements

    + Excellent cross-enterprise collaboration skills

    + Existing or eligibility to get a TS-SCI government security clearance

    + Solid interpersonal skills including demonstrated leadership and team building skills.

    + Excellent communication skills and presentation skills.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Degree in engineering, physics, or related technical field preferred.

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $169630 - $288370

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
