About the Role:
Dow Jones is seeking a Manager, Paid Media - Barter to lead the planning, negotiation, and execution of media barter deals that drive measurable impact across the full marketing funnel. The ideal candidate is a savvy dealmaker with strong media instincts, deep paid media experience, and a proven ability to balance business objectives with performance outcomes.
You will report to the Director, Paid Media and work cross-functionally with teams across the marketing organization including, but not limited to, Acquisition, Brand, Audience, and Data Science.
You will work on-site in our midtown Manhattan office 3 days each week.
You will:
+ Lead the sourcing, structuring, and negotiation of media barter deals with vendors and partners to maximize value and ROI for the business.
+ Develop and manage end-to-end barter media campaigns, including planning, execution, and performance tracking across brand and performance marketing objectives.
+ Be hands on in-platform - QA'ing campaign builds, optimizing targeting strategy, and monitoring performance.
+ Write compelling creative briefs that align with campaign goals and ensure delivery of impactful, on-brand assets.
+ Partner with internal stakeholders (Brand, Acquisition, Legal, and Finance teams) to ensure barter deals meet business, creative, and contractual requirements.
+ Manage vendor relationships, evaluate trade proposals, and assess opportunities to extract the highest possible value from each agreement.
+ Establish clear KPIs and work with analytics teams to measure success across the full funnel—from awareness through conversion—and optimize accordingly.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure barter media is fully integrated into the broader media mix and supports business growth.
+ Maintain a pulse on market trends and media landscape to identify new barter opportunities and innovative partners.
You have:
+ 5-7 years of experience in paid media, either on the agency or media sales side, with a focus on barter/trade deals.
+ Proven track record of successful barter negotiations that secured high-value deals and delivered measurable impact.
+ Deep understanding of full funnel media campaigns, including the metrics and methodologies used to evaluate performance.
+ Strong analytical skills; able to interpret performance data and make strategic recommendations.
+ Experience writing creative briefs and partnering with creative teams to fulfill campaign objectives.
+ Proficiency with Google Workspace (Slides, Sheets, Docs) and media planning/reporting tools.
+ Highly collaborative with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
+ Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple deals and stakeholders at once.
+ Self-starter with a proactive mindset, capable of seeking out and building the necessary relationships throughout the league to achieve success.
+ A bachelor's degree in marketing or business administration (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
