    The Department of Nursing at Farmingdale State College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Nursing. We seek a dynamic, student-centered faculty member who is committed to teaching excellence, scholarly engagement, and service to the college and community. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic mission of the Nursing Department by teaching across undergraduate and/or graduate programs, supporting curriculum development, engaging in scholarly activities, and participating in departmental and institutional service. Teaching assignments may include both day and evening classes.

     

    All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty resulting in peer-reviewed publications, which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. We are also interested in candidates with a history of, or interest in, pursuing external funding for their research. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. The service component of the workload includes student advising and participation on committees.

     

    A Doctorate in Nursing or a related field is required to be considered for tenure.

    Responsibilities:

    + Teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses in classroom, clinical, online, and/or simulation settings.

    + Provide academic advisement and mentorship to nursing students.

    + Actively participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous program improvement in alignment with accreditation standards (e.g., CCNE, AACN Essentials).

    + Engage in scholarly and professional development activities, including research, presentations, or publications.

    + Collaborate with colleagues to advance student learning through the use of innovative and evidence-based teaching strategies.

    + Contribute to departmental, college, and community service, including committee participation.

    + Maintain current knowledge and clinical expertise in the assigned teaching area(s).

    Job Requirements:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Master's degree in Nursing.

    + Unencumbered RN license in NY or eligible for licensure.

    + Recent clinical experience in a healthcare setting.

    + Evidence of strong communication, organizational, and technology skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Doctoral degree in Nursing or related discipline.

    + Experience with simulation and innovative instructional technologies.

    + Record of scholarship, publication, or professional presentations.

    + Previous teaching experience in higher education.

    Additional Information:

    This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

     

    + For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, October 23, 2025, and ending Saturday, November 1, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

    + CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Open Until Filled; applications will be reviewed as they are received.

    + SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
