Open Source Developer Advocate, Open Source…
- Amazon (San Francisco, CA)

Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Developer Advocate to join the Open Source Strategy & Marketing team. Our creative, experienced, and energetic organization is responsible for helping to drive the development and adoption of open source projects that are important to AWS. In this role, you’ll combine your technical skills, passion, and creativity to generate awareness and support for the open source projects and initiatives that AWS is involved in.
Ideally, you’re someone who comes from a software development background; but you love to be on stage or on screen guiding the community towards technologies that you believe in. You have immediate credibility with startups, developers, architects, and technology leaders. You’re excited about open source software and cloud technologies. You love to share your passion with others and you exhibit judgment in selecting strategic opportunities to do so.
This Developer Advocate role will have substantial travel to connect with external communities. Between travel, you’ll coordinate content production internally and externally, interact with communities actively on GitHub by reviewing and commenting on code, contributing to documentation, and by creating written content in the public online and in social channels.
Key job responsibilities
* Creating and maintaining relevant content (demos, videos, blogs, podcasts, livestreams, etc), covering strategic open source projects along with emerging technologies and industry developments.
* Gaining industry recognition and credibility as a regular attendee and speaker at third-party technology conferences, shows, and press events.
* Curating, developing, and delivering compelling presentations to help drive awareness and adoption of projects AWS is involved in.
* Maintaining a credible presence in social media
* Ability to travel (including internationally when needed)
A day in the life
As an influencer, you'll use your unique personality and authentic content to help attract contributors and users to open source projects and keep them engaged and inspired to build.
As a part of the open source marketing team, you'll engage with Builders to identify and anticipate user challenges. You will represent the voice of Builders with internal service teams and leverage the data you gathered from the community to help influence the project.
As an ambassador, you'll build long-term relationships with members of open source communities. You'll work with others inside and outside AWS to identify areas to engage, amplify the materials and resources you create, and identify areas of improvement in the projects' public content.
