Job Title: Mechanical Engineer IIIJob Description

As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in parcel systems, you will apply your expertise in engineering principles and materials to detail all aspects of material handling systems. You will be responsible for engineering 3D layouts and installation drawing sets that effectively communicate the design to all stakeholders during the firm engineering phase. Your methodical approach, solid technical knowledge, and attention to detail will be highly valued as part of a creative and problem-solving engineering team.

Responsibilities

+ Leverage 3D CAD systems to engineer material handling systems in compliance with customer specifications.

+ Review and create as-built drawings.

+ Participate in firm engineering meetings with customers and suppliers and may lead technical discussions during these meetings.

+ Produce detailed mechanical installation drawings.

+ Create detailed Bills of Material for purchasing equipment.

+ Create point load drawings when required.

+ Verify calculations, such as horsepower and throughput.

+ Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure custom equipment is provided per design specifications.

+ Collaborate with vendors to review equipment drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with customer requirements.

+ Produce and/or compile installation details, including supplier installation drawings and manuals, for the field.

+ Travel to job sites to verify field conditions.

+ Report project status to the Project Engineer as required to maintain the project schedule.

+ Design parts or platforms required for the material handling system.

+ Perform other required engineering tasks as necessary.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in 3D CAD Systems (Inventor, SolidWorks, PTC CREO), AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.

+ Solid knowledge of the advanced functionality of 3D CAD systems.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Attention to detail and ability to work in the details.

+ Ability to transition between several projects.

+ Passion for continuous improvement and contributing to the development of engineering processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (ME, EE, or other engineering/CAD).

+ 4-6 years of experience with projects in the parcel space.

+ Experience with parcel projects.

+ Excellent communicator.

+ Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This is a Permanent position based out of Topeka, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $78755.00 - $112000.00/yr.
