Posting Summary
Campus Recreation at the University of Vermont is seeking a motivated and organized professional to oversee the daily operations of the Group Fitness Hub. This position manages a team of 35–45 student staff, ensuring a positive customer experience while supporting student development and well-being through inclusive fitness programming.
Key responsibilities include hiring, training, and mentoring student staff, managing schedules and payroll, as well as serving on departmental risk management and student development committees. The coordinator will plan and execute fitness and wellness events, collaborate with campus partners, and represent Campus Rec at university-wide programs.
Facility oversight includes managing studio spaces, equipment, and technology, along with coordinating cleaning, maintenance, and safety protocols. The role also involves customer service leadership, resolving issues, and fostering a welcoming environment. Additional duties include budget monitoring, equipment recommendations, invoicing for special programs, and contributing to program assessment and strategic planning.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong organizational skills, a passion for student development, and a commitment to creating impactful fitness programming.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree required in Exercise Science, Recreation, Physical Education, Health and Wellness or related field experience; One year (every year served as a student recreation staff member counts as .5 year of professional experience) of professional work experience in a college campus setting. Required to be CPR /First Aid and AED certified (or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire date). Experience with a wide variety of software platforms. Candidates must possess strong organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Qualifications
NCCA Accredited Fitness Professional. Experience teaching a variety of group exercise classes.
Anticipated Pay Range $50,000 - $53,000
Other Information
Some early mornings, evenings, and weekends are required.
