    Role Overview :

    The Driver Ability Associate works with agency rules, regulations, policies, Indiana codes, and services related to Credentials, Invalidations, Suspensions, and Reinstatements. A high degree of knowledge of the BMV System Tracking and Record Suport (STARS) system is helpful, but not required. The Associate will answer internal and external customer phone calls and emails, as well as process assigned paperwork and all related functions.

     

    Some team travel is involved. Mileage is reimbursed if not using a state vehicle.

     

    This position is located at the BMV operations center at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis. Hours are:

     

    + Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am -4:00 pm. Weekends are holiday are off.

    Salary :

    The salary for this position traditionally starts at $29,588.00.

    A Day in the Life:

    Responsibilities include:

    + Provide respectful, exedient, and accurate customer service.

    + Repond to and process escalated calls.

    + Investigate referrals made to Driver Ability on State Form 54750.

    + Process forms and update customer records:

    + Form 22106, Vision Certification

    + Form 13226, Bioptic Vision Certification

    + Form 56520, Vision Screening Documentation

    + Form 54747. Medical Review Form

    + Review, record, and process daily submission files of State Driver’s Exam and on-road skills tests.

    + Correspond within BMV and outside agencies, BMV branches, and BMV-approved Rehabilitation Centers.

    + Assist in researching, implementing, and completing department projects.

    + Investigate inquiries from interal and external partners.

    + Work with the Indiana Driver's Licensing Medical Advisory Board.

    + Comply with BMV policies and Indiana Codes to ensure confidentialy of recrods.

    + Participate in quarterly branch visits.

    What You'll Need for Success:

    + High school diploma, or equivalent, with 1 year of work experience.

    + Extensive knowledge of producitivy software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    + Ability to:

    + Quickly gain proficiency with the BMV System Tracking and Record Support (STARS) software, Kofax Total Agility (KTA) software, DocuWare software, and other applications necessary for business processing.

    + Multitask.

    + Exercise effective time management.

    + Navigate complex administrative guidelines related to driver credentials, invalidations, suspensions, and reinstatements.

    + Communicate effectively in writing and speaking.

    + Read with attendtion to detail, accuracy, and completeness.

    + Work under pressure.

    + Practice diplomacy, tact, and courtesy.

    Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

    This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
