Position Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Tax, the Manager, Indirect Tax is responsible for overseeing the company’s US and international indirect tax compliance and advisory activities, including sales and use tax, VAT, GST, property tax, unclaimed property, state & local incentives and projects with external advisors. This position will manage the end-to-end indirect tax processes – ensuring compliance, minimizing risk, managing tax audits, and supporting business operations through timely and accurate tax determinations. The Manager will serve as the joint primary liaison between the company, external advisors, and tax authorities on indirect tax matters. The successful candidate will bring both technical indirect tax expertise and strong operational execution skills, with a focus on automation, efficiency, and process improvement.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Manage all aspects of indirect tax compliance, including sales/use tax, property, VAT/GST, unclaimed property, California Department of Tax and Fee Administration compliance, and other transaction-based taxes in the U.S. and internationally.
+ Oversee preparation, review, and filing of sales and use tax returns and related compliances filings.
+ Oversee the review and reconciliation of indirect tax accounts, ensuring accuracy in general ledger balances and accruals.
+ Manage indirect tax audits.
+ Manage customer and sales operations-facing tax exemption process including tax exemption certificates, resale certificates, and tax registration requirements.
+ Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations affecting the company’s indirect tax obligations and advise on business impacts.
+ Partner with IT, Finance, Procurement and Sales to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions within ERP systems.
+ Oversee and improve indirect tax determination processes within tax engines or ERP systems (Avalara).
+ Collaborate with external advisors on complex tax issues, nexus reviews, indirect tax planning opportunities, tax reduction efforts, and local tax incentives.
+ Support M&A activity by reviewing indirect tax exposures, registrations, and integration of acquired entities.
+ Provide training and guidance to internal business partners on indirect tax implications of contracts and transactions. Provide training and guidance to tax department staff.
Education and Experience:
+ 10+ years experience in indirect tax compliance and advisory roles
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
+ Strong technical understanding of U.S. sales and use tax, property tax, and familiarity with global VAT/GST concepts.
+ Experience with indirect tax systems or automation tools such as Avalara.
+ Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with ERP systems.
+ Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
+ Strong analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
+ Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and sound judgment in decision making.
+ Operates with integrity and professionalism, maintaining confidentiality and high ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree.
+ Experience in accounting for income taxes and tax return compliance for direct taxes.
+ Experience working in global companies including collaboration with finance leaders located in various foreign jurisdictions.
+ Experience with ERP or automated sales tax systems implementation.
Physical Job Requirements:
+ This position is performed primarily in an office setting with a controlled, quiet environment.
+ The role requires the ability to communicate effectively through various means, including video conferencing, telephone, and written communication.

Environment: Work environment is typically an office environment during normal business hours.
