How you’ll have an impact at Paula’s Choice:
As a Stability Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. You’ll manage stability testing programs, evaluate product performance over time, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to maintain excellence throughout the product lifecycle.
This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about scientific integrity and continuous improvement.
As a Stability Specialist, a typical day might include a mix of the following:
+ Manage and oversee all GMP and safety testing activities, both internally and with external Labs.
+ Evaluate stability and packaging compatibility samples for key parameters such as color, odor, texture, pH, viscosity, specific gravity, microbial content, and active ingredient degradation.
+ Conduct thorough technical data reviews and interpret analytical results for products and packaging components (bottles, tubes, pumps, foils, etc.).
+ Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation for all stability studies.
+ Communicate stability and compatibility findings promptly to internal teams and external partners.
+ Develop, update, and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with GLP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
+ Perform regular laboratory maintenance and equipment calibration (pH meters, viscometers, water baths, etc.) to ensure data integrity.
+ Support and lead process improvement initiatives related to stability operations.
+ Stay current with GMP, USP/NF, FDA, and ICH guidelines relevant to stability testing and product manufacturing.
+ Collaborate with multiple departments on product testing, approval, and release activities.
+ Participate in stability investigations involving deviations, out-of-specification (OOS) results, or cross-functional issues.
+ Monitor and track testing costs for monthly budget reporting.
+ Oversee stability chamber organization, maintenance, and support.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by management.
The Details:
+ **Location: This role requires on-site presence at our Seattle, WA, must be based in the Pacific Northwest**
+ Hours: Typical PST Business Hours, some flexibility required
+ Physical requirements: Standing and working on the bench for most of the day
What you’ll bring to the table:
+ Associate degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field (bachelor’s degree preferred).
+ Minimum 2 years of hands-on stability testing experience in a GLP-compliant laboratory (cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or related industry).
+ Strong understanding of GLP, ICH, and regulatory compliance standards.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
+ Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and regulatory reporting.
+ Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and collaborative environments.

Approximate Salary Range Based on Experience and Location:

Paula’s Choice Skincare determines the pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external and internal equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget. This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan.
