Overview
Provide transportation and supervision of Christmas Fundraisers to approved ringing sites. The duties require the exerting of normal physical effort in addition to moderate lifting of kettles and kettle stands. Drive Salvation Army vehicles in a safe manner over specific routes obeying all New York State motor vehicle traffic laws. The position is an extension of the mall or store staff at each location; incumbent and Christmas Fundraisers should be cognizant of the mall or store business standards as we are their guests.
Responsibilities
+ Commit to a regular schedule and report to work and all required meetings on time and show enthusiasm, loyalty, reliability and belief in the work of The Salvation Army.
+ Keep an accurate and up to date inventory of all route kettles, stands, signs and bells. This will be audited periodically.
+ Check vehicle operations regularly and fill the van with gas as needed. Gas cards are provided for business use only. Keep all vehicles clean. No food is allowed in the vans.
+ Pickup and load van with enough kettles for the next day/and or next driver based on number of kettle sites available.
+ Assign break times and relieve Christmas Fundraisers for lunch and dinner.
+ Ring the bell for a minimum of 2 hours to relieve other ringers during the day. Ring bell, smile, and wear Salvation Army issued driver poncho/jacket and ID Badge at all times while on duty.
+ Make rounds to all your locations and kettle stands during the course of the day. Be visible to all your Christmas Fundraisers. Encourage them and thank them. Don’t forget they are volunteering!
+ Agree to work in a way that does not jeopardize the health and safety of others. Document and report any injury, accident or incident immediately to the Campaign Coordinator.
+ Must have ability to complete and track route attendance paperwork including but not limited to: Weekly Attendance Register, Driver Sheets, Christmas Fundraisers Kettle Slips, Incident Reports, Timesheets and Vehicle mileage Logs.
+ Complete and sign off on ALL kettle slips notingkettle numberson eachdriver sheetandkettle slip.
+ Keep campaign issued route phone close to you. Answer all calls and respond to all voice mails on the route phone during the day.
+ No smoking, alcohol consumption, drugs or improper conduct on any Salvation Army premises or in vehicles. (Please note in New York State smoking is prohibited in most public areas. No smoking within 100 feet of mall and store entrances.)
+ Report any vehicle issues needing attention immediately, i.e. service, dings, or repairs. Do not text while driving. Keep vehicle music low or at a reasonable level.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Must possess clean, valid New York State Driver License.
+ Commitment to a fixed working schedule is essential. Reliability is essential.
+ Ability to withstand cold weather and ring a bell for extended periods of time.
+ Reliability, trustworthiness, a good attitude, friendliness, thanking donors and an outgoing personality are required.
