The Covey Center for the Arts is looking for responsible individuals to perform in the role of part-time Guest Services Worker. These positions will prepare for upcoming events and service facility and client needs during performances. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in serving the patrons of the Covey Center by performing the duties listed herein are encouraged to apply.

What is the compensation?
Pay Rate: $11.00 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

What will I do?
Assist in preparing for upcoming events and service facility and client needs during performances. Specific tasks include the following:
+ Perform cashiering, ushering, and security duties.
+ Provide directions, information, and other assistance to the public.
+ Secure backstage areas and items, including dressing rooms, props, and technical spaces, to prevent unauthorized access.
+ Manage backstage crowd flow particularly during entrances and exits.
+ Ensure emergency exits are well-lit with clear access paths.
+ Perform minor lifting and moving of program props, tables, and chairs.
+ Assist with sanitizing and custodial maintenance of the facility.
+ Adapt to various positions and fill in as assigned.
+ Support other staff members as needed, and perform other related duties as required.
What do I need to apply?
+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
+ Experience working with the public.
+ Experience with cash handling.
+ Sufficient overall experience that would demonstrate an ability to perform the duties of the position.
+ Theatre or event experience preferred.
What are the hours?
Average of 15 hours per week, typically Monday through Saturday, between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., with occasional daytime matinees. Actual schedule will be determined by the performance/event calendar.
What are the physical and environmental factors?
This work requires: walking; sitting; bending; reaching; and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) This work may require climbing stairs in dimly lit or dark areas and standing for long periods of time. May require working with crowds and in stressful situations.
What is the selection process?
This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received (minimum of seven days). Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
