Job Summary:
The Water/Wastewater Sampler is responsible for collecting, analyzing and/or transporting water/wastewater samples as directed. The Water/Wastewater Sampler reports directly to the Supervisor of Water Quality. Responsible for helping to ensure compliance, as directed, with all applicable Drinking Water and Wastewater Regulations.
Essential Work Performed:
+ Responsible for preparing/adhering to a monthly compliance monitoring schedule for sampling water/wastewater. Responsible for obtaining and organizing sample containers as directed.
+ Collect water/wastewater compliance samples as directed and perform applicable analyses, or transport samples to a certified laboratory. Examples include, but are not limited to, samples of bacteria, nitrates, lead, copper and samples that require head space free sampling techniques.
+ May be responsible for collecting additional, non-compliance water/wastewater samples as directed, and perform applicable analyses, or transport samples to a certified laboratory.
+ Participates in the investigation of water quality complaints or problems, as directed by supervision, collects information and samples as needed.
+ Learn and perform microbiologist analysis and follow established notification protocol as directed. Includes on-call, weekend work.
+ Must adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
+ Organize data into spreadsheet, or other format, as directed.
Skills Required:
+ High School Diploma/GED. Associates Degree in Environmental Science or related field preferred.
+ Ability to obtain Delaware Approved Sampler/Tester Certification within three months.
+ Good reading and writing skills
+ Ability to comprehend and work with numerical data
+ Maintain a valid class D motor vehicle license
+ Visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors is desired
+ Ability to hear and conduct a two way verbal conversation
+ Analyzing and interpreting data
+ Problem solving
+ A working knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.), and strong organizational skills.
Equipment Use:
+ Telephone/ Cell phone/Nextel
+ Computer/Copier/Office equipment
+ Water testing equipment: PH meter and colorimeter.
Physical Demands:
+ Frequent standing, sitting, walking and driving.
+ Moderate ability to climb ladders, bend and step over obstacles and walking on uneven surfaces.
+ Occasionally, lifting and carrying object weighing as much as 50 pounds.
+ This position requires frequent operation of a computer and other office equipment such as printers and copiers.
+ Must be able to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, discuss and exchange information.
Working Conditions:
+ Working indoors and out in all types of weather and temperatures.
+ Routinely exposed to continuous background noise, water treatment chemicals. Occasionally exposed to loud noises and fumes.
Compensation & Benefits:
+ Hourly Range: $17.59 - $26.39 hourly, based on experience and qualifications.

Candidates must possess authorization to work in the United States.
Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen, pre-employment physical, background check, and have a valid driver’s license. Additionally, must be cleared by Department of Defense to access government facility.
