Job Description
The Woods College of Advancing Studies at Boston College is seeking a strategic, creative, and collaborative Director of Marketing to lead the development and execution of the schoolâs integrated marketing and communication strategy. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Enrollment Management, the Director will oversee all aspects of branding, digital and print marketing, web and multimedia content, event support, and internal communications to enhance recruitment, corporate engagement, and alumni relations.
This role will supervise the Communications & Events Specialist and manage freelance resources, while serving as the primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with Boston College branding standards and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing & Branding:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to support enrollment growth and elevate the Woods College brand.
- Execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, print, video, and email platforms.
- Create and maintain a cohesive graphic identity and brand voice for the Woods College.
- Optimize marketing initiatives using performance analytics and platform insights.
- Ensure consistency, tone, and quality across all communications.
Project & Content Management:
- Lead and manage all marketing and communications projects from ideation through execution.
- Supervise staff, freelancers, and student workers to deliver high-quality creative work.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal communications and marketing requests.
- Manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships related to marketing efforts.
Collaboration & Outreach:
- Build strong partnerships with University Communications, the Provostâs Office, and the Deanâs Office.
- Work closely with academic and administrative leadership to communicate the schoolâs mission and programs effectively.
- Maintain collaborative relationships across Boston College and with external partners to amplify impact and visibility.
Event Support:
- Provide strategic oversight for high-profile events including Commencements and Lecture Series.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and staff to ensure seamless execution and promotion of events.
- Support the Communications & Events Specialist in managing event logistics and marketing.
Web & Digital Strategy:
- Lead website strategy, content development, and user experience optimization for desktop and mobile.
- Ensure site design aligns with accessibility standards and institutional branding.
- Coordinate photography, videography, and multimedia production for online use.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $102,150 to $127,700; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements
- Bachelorâs degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field; Masterâs degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5â7 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, ideally in higher education.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
- Strong project management, writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in web content management systems, social media platforms, and marketing analytics tools.
- Knowledge of graphic design, video production, and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
- Collaborative mindset and excellent interpersonal skills.
