Description
The Lee County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Learning and Development Specialist to design, develop, coordinate, and deliver engaging and impactful training programs that foster employee growth, engagement, and professional development across the organization.
This position plays a key role in promoting a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence by partnering with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to assess learning needs, develop curriculum, and implement effective instructor-led, eLearning, and blended learning initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with HR leadership to assess training and development needs that support employee performance and retention.
+ Design, develop, and deliver training programs using various modalities including classroom-based, virtual, and eLearning formats.
+ Coordinate all logistical aspects of training sessions, including scheduling, room setup, technology support, and refreshments.
+ Market training initiatives through engaging communications to maximize participation and program visibility.
+ Facilitate instructor-led and online training sessions for staff at all levels on a wide range of professional topics.
+ Maintain strong working relationships with department leaders and staff to support organizational development initiatives.
+ Track and maintain attendance records to ensure compliance with training requirements.
+ Administer and manage the County’s Learning Management System (LMS), including course uploads, troubleshooting, and generating training reports.
+ Collect and analyze feedback and performance data to continuously improve training content and delivery.
+ Stay informed on the latest training techniques and instructional design practices.
+ Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Minimum Requirements:
You need any combination of education and experience that is equal to:
+ Associate’s degree or completion of two years of college coursework in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, Public Relations, Communication, or a related field.
+ Two (2) years of experience in human resources, employee training, or a closely related area.
+ Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and training evaluation methods.
+ Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems and related technology platforms.
+ Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all organizational levels.
+ Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel to training sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, or related field.
+ Experience with instructional design tools and eLearning development software.
+ Prior public sector or government experience.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm.

Retirees of the Investment Plan are eligible for renewed membership in the Investment Plan only. FRS reemployment rules apply for both.
