Special Education Teacher

Open Positions: 4

Caseloads:

+ Early Intervention (1 opening): 14 students, primarily non-verbal, focused on school readiness (36–37 hours per week)

+ K–8 (2 openings): 10 students, moderate autism and social/emotional disabilities (32.5 hours per week)

+ High School (1 opening): 10 students, moderate autism and social/emotional disabilities (32.5 hours per week)

In this role, you will work under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator to provide high-quality services to students. You’ll play a key role in developing and implementing individualized programs that include specialized instruction, tutorial support, and consultation with general education staff.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Deliver engaging and effective instruction tailored to individual student needs

+ Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive learning environments

+ Participate in IEP development and implementation

+ Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

Minimum Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)

+ Valid Illinois teaching certificate as required by state and district regulations

+ Minimum of one year of teaching experience (preferred)

+ Illinois State Teacher Certification in one or more of the following areas (preferred):

+ Standard Elementary Teaching

+ Standard Secondary Teaching

+ Standard Special Teaching

+ Learning Behavior Specialist/LBS1 Endorsement (required)

+ Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice

+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)

+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable)

+ Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

+ Must be at least 18 years of age
