Sr. Analyst, Market Strategy and Competitive Insights Who We Are
At Wayfair, we’re redefining how people discover and shop for their homes. To stay ahead in the home goods space, we rely on sharp insights into our competitive landscape. The Market Strategy & Competitive Insights (CompIntel) team powers those insights, ensuring leadership has the data and analysis needed to make strategic decisions.
CompIntel acquires and structures data on competitor activity, pricing, and market share — including exact and similar competitor product matches, competitor price indices, and competitive share analysis via 3rd-party credit card and POS data. These insights directly guide pricing, category management, and our broader commercial strategy.
We’re looking for a Sr. Analyst to help analyze competitor landscape trends, inform our market approach, and shape Wayfair’s growth. This is a high-visibility role with exposure up to the C-suite , offering the chance to directly influence how Wayfair competes and wins in the market.
What You’ll Do
+ Drive competitive intelligence
Own and enhance our share tracking indices (e.g., Yipit home pureplay index, broad catalog competitor cuts) to track Wayfair’s market position vs. Amazon, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Costco. Your insights will directly inform pricing and assortment strategies.
+ Unlock data-driven insights
Use 3rd-party data sources (credit card, POS data from Circana, GfK) and internal product/order data to identify pricing trends, market shifts, and opportunities for growth.
+ Partner with leaders across the business
Collaborate closely with Pricing and Category Management teams. Share actionable insights in Weekly and Monthly Business Reviews (WBRs and MBRs) , ensuring alignment with Commercial and Business Trends leadership.
+ Guide strategy & OKRs
Manage OKRs for the CompIntel Strategy & Ops team and ensure alignment with Tech Leadership and other partners.
+ Shape future capabilities
Prioritize and drive new competitor match acquisition efforts, identifying the most effective ways to expand Wayfair’s competitive intelligence toolkit.
What You’ll Need
+ 2+ years of experience in analytics, consulting, investment banking, technology, startups, or strategy roles.
+ Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, business, engineering, or related field — or equivalent practical experience.
+ Proven track record in delivering results tied to output metrics and OKRs.
+ Strong analytical skills : ability to frame hypotheses, run analyses in SQL/BigQuery, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
+ Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills with ability to structure and present data effectively.
+ Strong communication skills : able to build a clear narrative, influence stakeholders, and present complex insights in a digestible way.
+ Business acumen : understanding of how different functions interact and how market insights inform company strategy.
+ Adaptability : comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
+ Intellectual curiosity and energy, with a strong work ethic and desire to grow.
+ Experience with Generative AI (GenAI) tools is a plus.
Why You’ll Love This Role
+ Opportunity to work on high-impact projects with executive visibility .
+ A role at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and business decision-making .
+ Hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools, data sources, and GenAI.
Collaborative, fast-paced team environment with strong opportunities for growth.
