As a Maintenance Specialist, you’ll play a hands-on role in creating safe, welcoming housing environments for our participants. You’ll be part of a team that ensures our apartment buildings are clean, functional, and ready for move-in—making a direct difference in someone’s journey toward stability.

This role is ideal for someone who:
Enjoys physically active, hands-on work.
Can confidently manage repairs and maintenance tasks across multiple housing sites.
Is comfortable lifting up to 75 pounds, climbing ladders, and navigating stairs.
Can work in both hot and cold conditions, indoors and outdoors.
Has a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for travel between locations.
Is flexible with their schedule and can respond to occasional emergencies.
What you’ll do:
Prepare housing units for new residents by completing painting and drywall projects.
Perform general repairs including minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and cleaning tasks.
Maintain grounds year-round: snow removal, lawn care, landscaping, and trash pickup.
Move and set up furniture in apartments and offices.
Respond to maintenance emergencies, including occasional after-hours needs.
Support volunteer projects related to housing maintenance.
Follow safety procedures and contribute to a secure environment for staff and residents.
Participate in Avivo’s Undoing Racism Plan and ensure culturally responsive services.
### Minimum Education Required
What you’ll bring:
Required:
High school diploma or GED, or 1 year of relevant experience.
Ability to read English at a high school level.
Demonstrated aptitude or willingness to learn maintenance skills.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and navigate stairs regularly.
Comfort working in hot/cold environments and from ladders.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and access to a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
### Minimum Experience Required
Preferred:
6+ months experience in building maintenance or construction trades.
Completion of a trades training program.
Familiarity with power tools, cleaning equipment, and safety procedures.
