RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plans and implements The Queen’s Health Systems’ (QHS) information security program to protect sensitive information, with emphasis on electronic and non-electronic patient health information (PHI). Key responsibilities include:
o Management of QHS’ information security program and policies.
o Leadership of QHS and QMC information security initiatives.
o Education of staff and contractors.
o Providing functional and technical security specifications.
o Oversight of information security activities performed by QHS staff and contractors.
• Works with the Director, Information Technology Security and contractors to administer and manage QHS’ information security program and services.
• Works closely with leadership, including the privacy, risk and compliance functions, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing and speaking.
• Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Frequent: walking.
• Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
• Operates computer, calculator, telephone, fax and printer.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field; or four (4) years experience in information technology may be substituted for education requirement.
• Certification in one (1) or more of the following highly preferred:
o Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
o Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
o Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
o Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
B. EXPERIENCE:
• In addition to the education requirement, five (5) years experience in planning, implementing and/or supporting IT systems with no less than two (2) years experience in information security programs with organizations with no less than 1,000 registered users and 25 client server applications.
• Two (2) years leadership/supervisory experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
• Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
