Farmingdale State College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics. This position carries a normal teaching load of 12 contact hours per semester in both general and specialized areas of economics. Courses may include introductory and intermediate economics, as well as quantitative analysis courses supporting the Applied Economics, Business Management, and Sport Management programs.
While all fields are welcome (A1: General Economics; 00: Any Field), preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
+ Behavioral Economics (D9)
+ Experimental and Behavioral Finance (G41)
+ Digital Economy/Finance and Big Data (C8, C9).
All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty resulting in peer-reviewed publications, which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. We are also interested in candidates with a history of, or interest in, pursuing external funding for their research. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. The service component of the workload includes student advising and participation on committees.
Teaching may be assigned in various formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses, and may include day , evening, or possible weekend classes, as well as instruction at extension sites.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Ph.D. in Economics, or ABD with all degree requirements (including dissertation defense) completed by August 30, 2026.
+ Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching.
+ Evidence of a well-developed research agenda.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Established record of scholarship and peer-reviewed publications.
+ Ability and interest in developing and teaching courses in areas such as Behavioral Economics, Experimental and Behavioral Finance, Data Analytics, Digital Economy, Financial Technology (FinTech), and Artificial Intelligence (AI)I/Machine Learning (ML) applications in Economics.
Additional Information:
This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.
+ For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, October 24, 2025, and ending Sunday, November 2, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
+ CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Open Until Filled
+ SALARY: $75,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $79,000 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with qualifications and experience.
+ ANTICIPATED START DATE: Fall 2026
