Are you a strategic executive with deep expertise in Commercial Lines? Join MAPFRE USA as our **Assistant Vice President, Commercial Lines Underwriting** , and lead the transformation and growth of our Commercial Lines business.
As a key member of the Technical Leadership Team, you will oversee the strategy, execution, and performance of our Commercial Lines Product and Underwriting teams. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to shape underwriting excellence, drive profitable growth, and strengthen our market position through innovation and strong agency partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead the strategic direction and execution for Commercial Lines Underwriting, aligning with MAPFRE USA’s broader business objectives.
+ Oversee underwriting performance, risk selection, and pricing strategies to ensure profitability and competitiveness.
+ Build and develop a high-performing team of underwriting and product professionals.
+ Foster strong relationships with agency partners to drive market expansion and meet aggressive growth targets.
+ Collaborate across functions to ensure seamless integration of underwriting strategy with product development, operations, and distribution.
Ideal Candidate Profile
+ **Executive Leadership:** 10+ years of experience in P&C insurance, with a strong focus on Small Commercial Lines Underwriting and a proven track record in senior leadership roles.
+ **Underwriting Expertise:** Deep knowledge of Small Commercial Lines underwriting practices, risk assessment, and portfolio management.
+ **Strategic Vision:** Ability to develop and implement strategies that drive underwriting excellence and business growth.
+ **Talent Development:** Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
+ **Analytical Acumen:** Strong decision-making skills grounded in data and analytics.
+ **Collaborative Mindset:** Skilled at influencing and partnering across business units to achieve shared goals.
+ **Education:** Master’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.

**Pay Philosophy:** The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at MAPFRE have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range: $190,933 - $224,501
