Summary:
Our Actuarial team is seeking a highly motivated individual that has a strong business sense, a proven track record of generating and implementing new ideas and the ability to develop actuarial analyses in accordance with CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) principles. In this role, you will be the lead analyst for the $1B Massachusetts Personal Lines Auto book of business. The individual in this position supports the team by identifying business issues, performing analysis to understand the drivers of the issues, and making recommendations to improve the overall business results.
Responsibilities:
+ Build state specific expertise as the Massachusetts Personal Lines Auto lead analyst.
+ Provide actuarial analysis and support for rate changes or other initiatives. Such analysis may include:
+ Review pricing of new or existing rating elements and/or coverages
+ Quantifying the top and bottom-line impact of rate and non-rate actions
+ Assess and forecast the impacts of product, market, and economic changes on profitability and rate need.
+ Make data driven decisions and recommendations, apply actuarial judgment where necessary.
+ Strong technical skills, particularly with SQL. Is able to retrieve and manipulate data efficiently across multiple data sources.
+ Can work independently, perform reasonability checks to catch obvious errors.
+ Effectively communicate findings and results of analysis to peers, business partners and senior management.
+ Build relationships with cross-functional business partners.
+ Recommend and implement process improvements.
+ Provide training and guidance to less experienced staff.
+ Pursues exams on the CAS syllabus through at least ACAS.
Experience:
+ 3-5 years of experience or equivalent related knowledge 3 – 5 CAS exams passed
+ Experience carrying out intermediate quantitative analyses
+ Actuarial, analytical, and coding expertise
+ Strong communication with business partners and leadership
+ Implementing methodology or process improvements
+ Completing intermediate analyses independently, with exposure to complex projects under guidance of manager
+ Manages multiple work streams at a time and recommends prioritization of tasks
**Education** : Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent related experience
**Pay Philosophy** :The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at MAPFRE have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range: $77,700-$123,744
