Description:
Position Purpose
Responsible for oversight of the oncology schedulers ensuring appropriate staffing, coordination, and implementation of oncology appointments. Assists in the identification, reporting and resolution of any issues stemming from scheduling requests. Acts as a working lead assisting to schedule oncology appointments for established patients. Coordinates radiology studies, internal/external referral appointments as requested by providers, nurses, and other patient care team members.
What you will do
+ Oversee and lead Oncology Schedulers on a daily basis
+ Lead efforts to ensure staff are oriented, properly trained, onboarded, and regularly evaluated on competencies and quality of work
+ Assist leadership with the completion of staff performance evaluations
+ Keep leadership apprised of any issues or concerns on a daily basis
+ Lead oversight of event reports and near-misses within scheduling with leadership team
+ Create schedules and cross-covers where needed
+ Responsible for scheduling cancer treatment appointments according to chair time utilization accommodating patients in multiple locations
+ Work with Medical Secretaries and providers to accommodate patients for their cancer treatments
Minimum Qualifications
+ Work requires the knowledge normally acquired through achieving a High School diploma or GED
+ Requires a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in an oncology environment with knowledge of patient population and types of services rendered.
+ Requires a minimum of three (3) years of oncology, surgical, radiology, or other complex scheduling experience.
+ Proficient knowledge of Medical Terminology required. Requires a good understanding of surgical procedures.
