Position Overview
The Director of Regional Safety provides strategic leadership and oversight of all safety programs and initiatives across the region. This executive-level role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while cultivating a proactive, best-in-class safety culture. The Director works closely with regional leadership, branch managers, and corporate safety leadership to align safety objectives with business goals, manage risk, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across all operational environments.

Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the regional safety strategy in alignment with corporate goals and regulatory compliance standards.
• Serve as a senior advisor to executive leadership on all matters related to safety, compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Regional Safety Managers and other safety professionals.
• Analyze regional safety performance metrics and implement data-driven programs to reduce incidents and drive a culture of safety accountability.
• Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis, incident investigations, and trend evaluations.
• Partner with M&A and integration teams to ensure seamless adoption of safety practices for new business units and acquisitions.
• Oversee the establishment and effectiveness of Regional Safety Committees, ensuring best practices are implemented across all service lines.
• Collaborate with HR and Training & Development teams to ensure high-quality onboarding, ongoing education, and specialized safety training programs.
• Maintain and oversee regional OSHA compliance, including accurate and timely reporting (OSHA 300 logs), audits, and updates based on regulatory changes.
• Interface with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure transparency and trust in safety operations.
• Lead the design and implementation of emergency response plans and business continuity frameworks.
• Oversee vendor and contractor safety management and ensure all third-party safety documentation is accurate and compliant.
• Serve as the regional escalation point for major safety incidents, audits, and compliance reviews.
• Own and maintain PPE strategy, budgeting, inventory management, and deployment across regional operations.
• Coordinate closely with Radiation Safety Officers (RSOs) to manage risks associated with Nuclear Density Gauges and other radiological equipment.
• Support environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance, including respiratory protection programs and field assessments.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
+ 10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or field services.
+ Strong understanding of OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory frameworks.
+ CSP, CHST, or equivalent professional safety certifications required.
+ Proven ability to lead multi-location safety programs and teams.
+ Strong nuclear gauge experience with understanding the use, storage, and diposition of them.
+ California worker comp experience preferred.
+ Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
+ Expertise in using safety management systems, software, and reporting tools.
+ Experience managing safety programs in a dynamic, fast-paced, and compliance-driven environment.
+ Proficiency in safety software and tools.
+ Ability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, overnight and travel as needed.
Travel Requirements
• This position requires travel, approximately up to 40% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and
use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
* This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
* The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
* The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
* The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
