Basic Job Functions:
Vulcraft of New York, a division of Nucor, is seeking a forward-thinking Automation Controls Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a problem solver who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and is passionate about driving innovation in manufacturing.The responsibilities of this role include, but arent limited to: Design and implement advanced electrical systems that align with Vulcrafts strategic goals. Develop object-oriented PLC programming solutions that are scalable, reusable, and efficient. Create high-performance graphical interfaces that enhance user experience, improve safety, and enable quick, accurate data interpretation. Integrate new designs and upgrades into existing manufacturing equipment, ensuring seamless and safe implementation on the shop floor. Serve as a key contributor to improving process efficiency, output, and product quality. Work on-site at our Chemung, NY facility (this is not a remote position).
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety practices, policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Compensation Data:
Salary compensation for this position has a starting range from $84,864 - $98,238 per year, depending on relevant experience and education, and is also eligible for our annual ROA bonus and annual Profit Sharing bonus.
Vulcraft of New York offers a generous annual Return on Asset Bonus, with a potential range of up to 33%, with a 10 year average of 18.46%. Additionally, Nucor Corporation provides all teammates with an annual Profit-sharing bonus, which has a 10 year average of 15.29%.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. 3 years of experience with automation in a production environment2. 3 years of experience programming in Studio 5000 and HMI / SCADA3. 3 years of experience in electrical design practices, machine / motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, programming, and system integration4. Must work on-site at the Chemung, NY location (this is not a remote position)
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology or equivalent field experience.2. Allen-Bradley PLC/PAC, motion control, VFD and safety hardware3. Inductive Automation Ignition experience4. Vision inspection systems (Cognex, Keyence, etc.)5. Robotic experience (ABB / Fanuc)6. Demonstrated knowledge of control systems design, programming, and systems integration with understanding of open loop and closed loop control systems.7. Familiar with state-of-the-art technologies in the following areas: control system integration, control system architectures, PLCs/CIP, motion control systems, electro-mechanical drive systems, robotics, part sensing, vision, risk assessment, and safety systems.8. Possesses an understanding of general mechanics and ability to apply it in troubleshooting and system design.
