Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a project basis - they've just been awarded a few new projects and don't have the bandwidth to keep up. This person will be responsible for supporting two new products being co-developed between manufacturer and customer.

This role is ideal for someone who likes to be hands-on involved in ideation/prototyping - supporting customer developing poke through and floor box electrical systems.

+ Starting with heavy concept work - prototyping, rough modeling and discussions around ideas and working as a team to determine is it the most feasible and desirable solution. Likely will split up ideas and be asked to develop a couple prototypes and discuss pain points specific to their prototype created. Engineer will create basic initial drawing and reach out to suppliers for rough estimate on costing for parts and tooling.

+ After concepts are created, will kick-off tooling and be in waiting stage to do more high-end prototyping. During that time will be doing validation and lab activities (example- scrub water requirements). High end-prototyping – has to perform like real parts.

+ End of project will likely be physically on line working through first shot prototypes and understand pain points with manufacturing engineer on assembly. First parts coming off tooling – super heavy involvement.

+ Customer has requested deliverables be tracked and itemized, so engineer will need to track hours based on activity.

Hours: 8am-5pm (flexible hours), 40 hour work week

Essential Skills

+ 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience

+ CAD proficiency (creo or solidworks)

+ Hands on prototyping experience or high mechanical aptitude (basic woodworking/assembly/metal fabrication or car maintenance)

+ Familiarity with one or multiple of the following manufacturing processes - aluminum extrusions, formed sheet metal, die cast and plastic injection molding

"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications

-Formal/Informal Lead or Leadership experience - experience working cross-functionally with different departments

-Examples of putting hand-up to direct work and share ideas with team.

-Rough metal fabrication – break forming, sheet metal, light welding operations, machining, mill, lathe, CNC

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $52.89/hr.
