Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrician (1st Class) to join our team at a prominent shipyard. The successful candidate will be adept at reading and interpreting work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics. You will be responsible for writing reports, ordering materials, and reporting any abnormal conditions, whether safety-related or mechanical. Your expertise in troubleshooting complex problems on electrical equipment and systems is essential.
Responsibilities
+ Read and interpret work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
+ Write detailed reports and order necessary materials.
+ Identify and report any abnormal safety or mechanical conditions.
+ Troubleshoot complex problems on electrical equipment and systems.
+ Run cabling into ships without performing pin connectorization or live terminations.
Essential Skills
+ Strong background in electrical work with an understanding of basic electrical theory and how electricity works.
+ Experience with wiring, troubleshooting, meters, and cables.
+ Minimum of 6+ years of experience as a marine electrician with a stable job history for First Class candidates.
+ Ability to repair and refurbish electrical lighting systems, communication systems, and other systems aboard ships.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with working cableways, MCTs, and cable routing.
+ Eligibility for DBIDS and possession of a TWIC card or willingness to be processed for one.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience required for consideration.
+ Attendance and work ethic are critical evaluation criteria.

Work Environment
The position is based in a shipyard environment, including locations such as Portsmouth Marine Terminal, Little Creek, and NOB. The work is strictly monitored, and attendance is highly valued.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
