Job Title: Press Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Press Operator to efficiently manage the setup and operation of our press machinery. This role involves reviewing job tickets, proofs, and managing materials such as paper, plates/toner, inks, and coatings to achieve precise color targets swiftly and minimize waste.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct press setup and operation by reviewing job tickets, proofs, and managing materials.

+ Achieve color targets swiftly to reduce spoilage.

+ Perform quality control by conducting ongoing pull and quality checks as per standard operating procedures.

+ Carry out daily and weekly preventative maintenance including cleaning rollers and replacing consumables.

+ Diagnose and resolve issues such as jams, mis-feeds, streaking, or color drift, escalating complex repairs to vendor technicians.

+ Communicate material shortages or scheduling risks to the Production Manager.

+ Ensure accurate hand-off of completed loads to the bindery with correct counts and paperwork.

+ Adhere to all OSHA lock-out/tag-out and PPE requirements.

+ Maintain a clean press area and handle chemicals and solvents according to SDS guidelines.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to read job tickets.

+ Mechanical aptitude and strong math skills.

+ Proven attention to detail and color accuracy.

+ Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

+ Basic computer skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in general labor and production.

+ Familiarity with machine operation and inspection.

Work Environment

The position operates Monday to Friday from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, with flexibility for off-shift hours, overtime, and occasional weekends as needed. The role requires working in a dynamic environment, adhering to safety standards and maintaining a clean workspace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Sterling, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $45760.00/yr.
