    We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Mechanical Technician to join our driven energy operations and research support team. The ideal candidate will have a foundational knowledge of electrical and/or HVAC systems and equipment. Working under general supervision, this position performs electrical and mechanical modifications, installations, and repairs on systems and equipment within a cogeneration and steam production facility. The technician will also assist senior specialists in the installation, maintenance, and evaluation of more complex systems and equipment that support critical infrastructure.

     

    Pay Range: $24-26/per hour

     

    Terms: 11 Month Contract (with potential for extension or conversion)

     

    Our Cogeneration Systems team is responsible for the generation of steam and electricity to support a large research and healthcare campus. Steam and power produced by the facility are essential for a wide range of operations including heating, cooling, domestic hot water, sterilization, water production, and food service. The cogeneration process also produces electricity as a byproduct, supporting a significant portion of the campus’ energy demand.

    Qualifications

    + Associate’s degree in electronics, electrical technology, HVAC, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

    + Experience in the repair and maintenance of a variety of electrical and electronic equipment or systems.

    + Working knowledge of electrical and/or HVAC systems and components.

    + Ability to follow standard safety procedures and apply troubleshooting techniques under supervision.

    + Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

    Working Conditions

    + Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, precipitation, and direct sunlight.

    + Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.

    + Must be able to ascend/descend stairs and access areas without elevator service.

    + May be required to enter confined spaces or hazardous environments using proper PPE and safety procedures.

    + This position supports a 24/7, year-round operational facility that provides critical energy services. Employees may be required to report or remain at work during adverse weather, power outages, or emergency events to ensure continuous operation.
